Palestinians see progress in the EU stance on UN offer

A senior official said the Palestinian leadership to its plan for the membership next month looking for "Progress" in position which sees the European Union, the PLO on Sunday.

"There is progress in the European attitude and a willingness to coordinate with the Palestinian leadership on the nature of the resolution that we are looking for," said PLO Secretary General Yasser Abed Rabbo met a day after President Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah with EU foreign policy Chief Catherine Ashton.

In the Centre of discussions in the West Bank city, the Palestinian plan to seek full membership in the United Nations, was when the General Assembly despite Israeli and opposition meet us next month in New York.

Ashton arrived in the region on Saturday for a three-day visit to the Israel and the Palestinians are pushing to resume direct negotiations hold since September in an insoluble problem of Jewish settlement building.

In talks with Abbas on Saturday night, Ashton said that the EU position would depend on, are presented on the wording on 20 September, Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erakat who said Palestinian proposal UN chief Ban Ki-moon.

Abbas told her that the European support for the deal was crucial to protect the peace process, Erakat said.
